Learning Styles
Students adopt different learning styles to study. There are a bunch of blogs convincing the readers on the best method of learning for all students. The truth is there is no "one size fits all" method. We explored the different styles and grouped it under three main categories as below to develop a solution for students.
-
Online learning: Personalized learning and individualized instruction are now recognized as crucial elements of student-centric teaching that fosters real progress and achievement. It delivers material at an optimal pace that caters to each student’s ability. Though it aids students to learn at their own pace, only students with extreme persuasion benefit from it. Also, students are not given the opportunity to discover new paths or understand where they go wrong in solving a problem. In this setting, students miss interacting with one another, there is no room for clearing doubts, and they are unable to see where they stand in their class.
-
Class room:Having numerous students learning in the same classroom has the added benefit of allowing students to exchange ideas and questions with one another providing another valuable learning medium that online environments cannot replicate. However, shy students do not benefit from this setting, as it hinders ones ability to learn by allowing other, more vocal, students to dominate the bulk of the discussion environments. Also, Classrooms environments tend to group students together in large number often making it difficult for instructors to isolate learning deficiencies and provide the necessary close attention that individuals may need to learn

One-to-one personal coaching: Similar to online coaching, one-to-one personal coaching allows students to learn at their own pace without the hindrance of peers. However, students lose their chance to exchange ideas with one another, and also, lack of peer competition makes them lethargic
We at LEAD THE CLASS have analyzed the pros and cons of each learning style and have concluded that there is no "one size fits all" method. Hence, we customize the learning schedule for each student. We gauge the interest and subject knowledge of each student and place them in a small group, to provide opportunities for students to interact and exchange new ideas and verbalize their understanding. We encourage students to discover alternate methods which stimulate their minds and motivate them towards the subject. Also, first-hand interaction with the educating professor allows for verification of those ideas and methods and helps them analyze and correct their mistakes. To understand the subject, we include additional online or one -to-one personal teaching (as per the needs) to get them to the same level. Through this way, they get the benefits of all learning styles.
Another crucial element of the learning process is the assessment. Tests gauge their knowledge on the subject and we use them to fill the gaps and help them master the subject. The scores and the student's progress is translated into simple graphs for parents to track and analyze
